Hello beautiful friend, I hope this little entry as part of my diary nature short stories series, finds you happy and well.
I wake to birds chirping outside our little caravan nestled in the pine forest. The familiar squawks of crimson rosellas, the raucous laughter of kookaburras, and yellow-crested cockatoos announcing the new day. As morning light filters through the trees, kangaroos emerge to graze on the dewy grass. In the distance, cows and sheep dot the rolling green hills. Here, in our secluded woodland hideaway, life moves slowly. The days unfold unhurriedly, marked only by the rhythms of nature around us. We have finally escaped the frenzy of the city, which felt like it was caving in on us and held us captive for five weeks, and have now found solace in the simple pleasures of a quiet life among the pines.
As golden sunlight filters through the trees into the van, our dog Marley stirs and nudges me to get out of bed and take him outside. The cold air awakens me. I smile and breathe in the fresh pine-scented air and stretch. The morning mist is still clinging to the hills, and a pair of yellow-crested cockatoos squawk loudly while flying overhead, no doubt off to find a tasty treat in the forest. Their presence reminds me to appreciate each new day as a gift.
Today will be another simple day in our forest home. No rush, no fuss. We'll do things in our own time. We could walk along the winding dirt road or find a sunny spot to sit and read. If we're feeling productive, there's always kindling to collect, laundry to hand wash and hang, plants to identify, and meals to cook on the camp stove. But there's no pressure. Our only company is the wildlife, and they never judge.
In the evening, 'roos will bound out from between the trees while the sky puts on a spectacular sunset show. The birds will sing their final notes before tucking in for the night. An owl may hoot softly in the distance. The stars will shine brightly without the hindrance of harsh city lights.
Peace. Quiet. Beauty in the simple moments. This little slice of heaven in the forest is all we need. A place to unwind, de-stress and recharge. Here, living life at our own pace is leisurely. No deadlines, just sunrises and sunsets. The sounds of nature are our soundtrack. Seclusion and solitude are our closest friends.
Some may call it lonely, but this simple life surrounded by pines is pure bliss for us. Our days unfold unhurried, with creature comforts few but treasured all the more. Each moment feels meaningful when life moves slowly. This is our happy place, our refuge, a little paradise in the forest we're lucky enough to call home (for a while at least) and a place that will cradle us just enough to make all our dreams come true.
I would love to hear your feelings about simplifying life and eliminating all the 'noise'. What does it look like for you? Let me know by leaving a comment (I would love that!).
Sending Love Always
Julie Ann xx
