Hello beautiful friend, Welcome to another short story straight from my journal. It's about the arrival of spring and all the beautiful little details that come with it, breathing new life into old routines and the sensory adventure around every corner. Sit back and relax whilst you enjoy this small story of transformation.
After months of brown, dry earth and bare trees, the first signs of spring fill me with a sense of renewal and joy. As winter releases its grip, the landscape begins to transform before my eyes. Flowers bloom, leaves unfurl and a wave of life and energy passes through the landscape as plants and animals awaken and reproduce. The renewal and growth of spring bring a sense of optimism. Nature has endured another winter and now celebrates this vibrant reawakening.
As the sun rises the birds are among the first to awake, their cheerful chirping announcing the changing of the seasons and the start of a new day. Magpies, kookaburras, and cockatoos scout for mates and the perfect tree hollow or branch to build a nest. Before long, the air is filled with squawking fledglings demanding to be fed. I notice the jacaranda trees bursting with purple blossoms, painting the skyline with colour. The aroma of wattle flowers wafts through the air, signalling the return of warmer days. Birds seem to sing with more enthusiasm, and a vibrant green replaces the dull, lifeless tones that dominated for so long.
A new energy pulsates through communities as though awoken from hibernation as they come together for barbecues, and outdoor gatherings. I get the sense that the vibrancy of spring restores optimism and ignites passions that laid dormant through the colder months. Cold-blooded creatures like lizards and snakes can finally raise their body temperatures as the sun's rays strengthen. I spot a colourful skink darting across the path before finding the perfect spot to sunbathe on rocks.
For me, spring breathes new life into old routines. A walk around the neighbourhood becomes an sensory adventure, with surprises around every corner. The warmer air and longer days motivate me to get outside and be active in nature. I find myself making plans to travel toward the ocean, pick wild flowers and experience more of the beauty spring has to offer across this sunburnt country I call home.
Though fleeting, the spring time in Australia is a magical time of metamorphosis. I embrace this vibrant interval between winter and summer, where the natural world is alive with colour and possibility. The earth stirs once more, and so does my spirits.
I would love to hear about your feelings around Spring. What does it awaken within you? If you enjoyed this little moment with me today, comment below.
